Overview
Avon is located at the base of Beaver Creek and only 15 miles west of Vail. Once a tiny whistle stop on the Union Pacific Railroad, Avon now encompasses a variety of shops, restaurants, ski shops and locally owned businesses. With many stores and dining opportunities, the community has become a central part of the Vail Valley’s recreational activity.
Getting Around Town
The Avon Transportation Center is the hub for free transportation to Vail or west to Edwards and Eagle. Take the bus to Vail or to the base of Beaver Creek and take advantage of the free public transportation.

The Avon Recreation Center is available to the public and offers a fabulous workout and play facility for active athletes. It is also home to the Westin Riverfront Resort with one of the finest lodging experiences in the Colorado Rockies. Nottingham Park offers a beautiful setting for ice skating in the winter or paddle boating in the summer. Now with a brand new stage in the park and adjacent to Avon Lake, this community provides some of the best music events in all of Eagle County. The town is noted for its Fourth of July fireworks presentation and is one of the largest in the state. Avon is a great location for both locals and second home owners.
