Water plays a vital role in our community—it supports our daily lives, local wildlife, recreation, and the beautiful landscapes we all enjoy. But in the Eagle River watershed and the Colorado River Basin, water supplies are shrinking due to long-term drought, a drying climate, and growing demand. That’s why conserving water isn’t just important—it’s something we can all do to help protect our future.
Why Conserve Water?
- Preserve Our Environment: It helps keep rivers and streams healthy for fish, wildlife, and natural habitats.
- Ensure Future Supply: By conserving water today, we help secure adequate resources for future generations.
- Save Money: Reducing water use can lower your bill, especially with tiered rate structures that charge more for higher use.
Our Commitment
At Eagle River Water & Sanitation District (ERWSD), we’re dedicated to assisting our customers in reducing water use through:
- Education and Outreach: Providing resources and information to promote water-saving practices.
- Tiered Water Rate Structures: Encouraging efficiencies and conservation by increasing rates for higher water use. The more you use, the more you’ll pay.
- Water Use Regulations: Implementing regulations to prevent waste and promote conservation. Visit our Water Use Regulations page to learn more.
- System Efficiency: Minimizing inefficiencies within the public water system to reduce overall use.
Our goal is to collaborate with customers, partners, and the public to reduce the community’s overall water use by 400 acre-feet by 2026. Together, we can protect our vital water resources and ensure a thriving community for years to come.
