A fresh storm moved through the high country Wednesday night, adding a layer of snow just as Colorado’s resorts push toward opening day. The totals were modest, but the timing is welcome for anyone planning a winter in the mountains.
Western Slope
- Aspen Snowmass: Led the state with up to 8 inches across its four mountains. Aspen Mountain and Snowmass open Nov. 26, with Buttermilk and Aspen Highlands to follow.
- Beaver Creek: About 4 inches, with opening day set for Nov. 25.
- Vail Mountain: Around 2 inches, with opening planned for Friday, Nov. 13.
Elsewhere in the High Country
- Breckenridge and Copper Mountain: Both picked up roughly 4 inches and had been slated to open Nov. 6, though Breckenridge has since delayed its start.
- Arapahoe Basin and Keystone: The state’s two open resorts saw only about an inch each, as did Winter Park, which will open when conditions allow.
- Steamboat: Missed Wednesday’s system but got up to 8 inches at upper elevations earlier in the week. It opens Nov. 21.
